Although it’s only January the Island is starting to burst into bloom. Almond trees all over the islands are springing to life; delicate flowers from white to deep pink, are bursting out across the countryside.
Even for local island residents this is a wonderful sight, many take to the roads to admire this display, trips are organised to tour the island to enjoy this yearly event. On Mallorca, the almond tree, with its burst of flowers in January and February can be described as ‘the most characteristic tree of the island’.
Harvesting of the almond crop usually takes place throughout the weeks at the end of August and the beginning of September.
